Raja Daou was born in Lebanon but has spent much of his life in Venezuela, where he worked as a photographer and cameraman.

Through his work, he became caught up in Bonaire and fell in love with the island.

He went to work in the restaurant business and opened the restaurant Garden Café in the late nineties.

Raja Daou is the inventor of the national drink of Bonaire: Tekibon, brewed from yatu.

After various experiments and seeking and obtaining financing Daou now has its own Tekibonfactory, Spirit of Bonaire, where he makes and bottles the taste of Bonaire.

In his factory Daou has a laboratory and simple systems to ferment the yatu and undergo other processes.

Then the resulting liquor, Tekibon, gets bottled. The bottle is beautiful and a gift by itself. Tekibon can be bought in small and large bottles.

Raja Daou believes in `working green`. Therefore all the machines in his factory are powered by solar energy.

Tekibon can be drunk either pure or in combination with lemon and salt, or as the basis of countless delicious cocktails.

DON'T FORGET TO TRY TEKIBON AT THE BARS & RESTAURANTS ON BONAIRE AND TAKE A BOTTLE HOME AS THE PERFECT SOUVENIR!
